Social Impact Career Fellowship
Do you want to find a fulfilling, high-impact career where you can help solve some of the world’s most pressing problems? If so, you should apply to Effective Altruism at NYU’s Social Impact Career Fellowship! Applications for the Fall 2019 class are due September 26th.
Fellows will meet once a week for 8 weeks to discuss their career plans and to read and discuss material on career planning, especially to improve social impact. They will have the opportunity to meet like-minded people, get dedicated career planning sessions and feedback, and 1-on-1 meetings with the organizers for more help. Fellows will also get exclusive access to meet with speakers and leaders that EA at NYU will be bringing in throughout the semester!
Earlier sessions will focus on working through readings and curriculum on how to choose a fulfilling career, and how to have the most impact through your career. Later sessions will include career planning sessions and tools, and may include deeper dives into specific fields and industries.
In addition to tools and wisdom for planning and building a meaningful career, the Fellowship will provide a unique opportunity to forge relationships with peers across disciplines, and to make valuable connections within the broader Effective Altruism community.
Who is this for? This program is open to all NYU students! We especially encourage applications from freshmen and sophomores, and from people who are new to/have never heard of effective altruism. This program is a good fit for you if social impact is a major component of your career/life plans.
Time Commitment: Fellows will meet once a week, on Tuesdays from 6:30-8:00pm, and have weekly readings of 1-2 hours. In total, we expect the commitment to be 5 or less hours per week for 8 weeks.
